Hywel was born in 1968 and raised in Swansea with the beautiful landscapes of the Gower peninsula on one side and the Tawe and Neath valleys on the other. He and his wife moved back to Wales in 2014, settling in Welshpool, and opened the flood gates of landscape photographic inspiration. Camping on top of mountains, checking the weather forecasts for snow and sunshine, tromping around exploring mid-Wales with a camera in hand, he discovered there’s a whole gallery of fleeting moments of beautiful light and abstract forms out there just waiting to be captured. Few travelling landscape photographers discover them, rushing for the easier charms of Pen-Y-Fan or Snowdon. But in mid-Wales one is often the only person on a whole mountain - so if you want to share those magic moments when the clouds part and the light is just perfect, Hywel may have been the only person in the whole world to even have been there to see them, let alone photograph them
