Newtown Musical Theatre Company presents
Lionel Bart’s OLIVER!
“Consider yourself at home” with Lionel Bart's classic musical based on the Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist.
The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.
Featuring memorable songs such as Food, Glorious Food, As Long As He Needs Me, Oom Pah-Pah, I’d Do Anything, Consider Yourself, Oliver! is a heart-warming theatrical masterpiece suitable for all.
Book, Music and Lyrics by LIONEL BART

TOM STADE: RISKY BUSINESS
Tom’s funny and today’s funny don’t always see eye to eye, but that’s cool; it’s not Tom’s way to follow the herd. He much prefers to take the path less travelled (some smart guy once said that).
Join this independent spirit and irrepressible force of nature, as he airdrops his ingenious and unflinching comedy into an ever-changing minefield.
It’s a risky business navigating the tightrope of today’s times but Tom’s approaching it with his usual gusto. Without risk there is no reward.

AUGUST by Matthew William Robinson
As the sun set everything changed.
AUGUST is inspired by sunsets - a space between restraint and recklessness. AUGUST is about endings and saying goodbye . About the changes that fling us together and tear us apart.
Bathed in the fading colours of dusk and the neon accents of night, AUGUST navigates a sensual landscape shifting between the perilous and the beautiful.
An artistic collaboration between choreographer Matthew William Robinson, composer Torben Sylvest, designer George Hampton Wale, lighting designer Emma Jones and the artists of National Dance Company Wales.
Skinners by Melanie Lane
We live in a digital age. We use filters to blur reality and avatars that disguise our identities. We talk to AI, and it talks back to us. We are teetering on the edge of a thrilling and terrifying future where the human body glitches between flesh and illusion, fact and fiction.
Beyond the fantasies that technology makes possible, our humanity remains. How do we return to the physical world, and to the skin we are living in?
Skinners by Melanie Lane, an Australian choreographer of European and Javanese heritage, features new music from composer Yamila Rios, costume designs by Don Aretino and light from Welsh designer Ceri James.

ONE LIFE tells the true story of Sir Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, a young London broker who, in the months leading up to World War II, rescued 669 predominantly Jewish children from the Nazis. Nicky visited Prague in December 1938 and found families who had fled the rise of the Nazis in Germany and Austria, living in desperate conditions with little or no shelter and food, and under threat of Nazi invasion. He immediately realised it was a race against time. How many children could he and the team rescue before the borders closed?
Fifty years later, it’s 1988 and Nicky lives haunted by the fate of the children he wasn’t able to bring to safety in England; always blaming himself for not doing more. It’s not until a live BBC television show, ‘That’s Life’, surprises him by introducing him to some surviving children - now adults - that he finally begins to come to terms with the guilt and grief he had carried for five decades.

Van Gogh: Poets & Lovers
Directed by David Bickerstaff - Produced by Phil Grabsky
200 years after its opening and a century after acquiring its first Van Gogh works, the National Gallery, London is hosting the UK’s biggest ever Van Gogh exhibition. Van Gogh is not only one of the most beloved artists of all time, but perhaps the most misunderstood.
This film is a chance to reexamine and better understand this iconic artist. Focusing on his unique creative process, Van Gogh: Poets & Lovers explores the artist’s years in the south of France, where he revolutionised his style. Van Gogh became consumed with a passion for storytelling in his art, turning the world around him into vibrant, idealised spaces and symbolic characters.
Poets and lovers filled his imagination; everything he did in the south of France served this new obsession. In part, this is what caused his notorious breakdown, but it didn’t hold back his creativity as he created masterpiece after masterpiece. Explore one of art history’s most pivotal periods in this once-in-a-century show.
Made in close collaboration with the National Gallery.

Exhibition On Screen: The Dawn Of Impressionism
18fed Maw 2025 7:00PM
The Dawn of Impressionism: Paris, 1874
Directed by Ali Ray - Produced by Phil Grabsky
The Impressionists are the most popular group in art history - millions flock every year to marvel at their masterpieces. But, to begin with, they were scorned, penniless outsiders. 1874 was the year that changed everything; the first Impressionists, “hungry for independence”, broke the mould by holding their own exhibition outside official channels. Impressionism was born and the art world was changed forever.
What led to that first groundbreaking show 150 years ago? Who were the maverick personalities that wielded their brushes in such a radical and provocative way? The spectacular Musée d’Orsay exhibition brings fresh eyes to this extraordinary tale of passion and rebellion. The story is told not by historians and curators but in the words of those who witnessed the dawn of Impressionism: the artists, press and people of Paris, 1874. See the show that changed everything on the big screen.
Made in close collaboration with the Musee d’Orsay and National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.

Through expert commentary, stunning visuals and Michelangelo’s own words, this film takes a fresh look at a master artist whose life and genius are celebrated in every mark he made. Returning to cinemas in 2025 to celebrate this iconic artist’s 550th birthday.
