Newtown Musical Theatre Company presents
“Anything Goes”
Music and lyrics by Cole Porter
Original book by P.G. Wodehouse & Guy Bolton and Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse
New book by Timothy Crouse & John Weidman.
“There’s no cure like travel to help you unravel
The worries of living today”
It’s 1934 - and the SS American is weighing anchor for an eventful crossing from New York to England. With a passenger list that includes: Reno Sweeney (“New York’s most notorious evangelist”); Moonface Martin (“Public Enemy number 13”), with gangster’s moll Erma; Hope Harcourt the débutante, her mother Evangeline, and her fiancé Lord Evelyn Oakleigh; and rich tycoon Elisha Whitney, we are in for an interesting voyage. Add to the mix our hero - stowaway Billy Crocker (in love with Hope), two pickpocket gamblers, a comic quartet of sailors, Reno’s “Fallen Angels”, one neurotic Purser, a desperate Captain, and a whole array of colourful characters young and old (not forgetting the dog!), and a hilarious time is guaranteed!
Featuring some of Cole Porter’s best loved songs (You’re the Top, It’s De-lovely, Friendship, Blow Gabriel, I Get a Kick Out of You), and a plot devised by PG Wodehouse, this all-singing, all-dancing, feel-good show might be crazy but it sure has class!
Join NMTC for its 25th Anniversary Show…
A topsy-turvy show for a topsy-turvy world!

And good’s bad today,
And black’s white today,

An Intimate Evening with Sydnie Christmas
Sydnie Christmas, the sensational winner of UK’s Britain’s Got Talent 2024, has swiftly become one of the most talked-about vocal talents in the world. Her breathtaking performances during the show captured the hearts of millions, including the notoriously tough judge, Simon Cowell, who declared; “That was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. 11 out of 10.”
Following her historic victory, Sydnie released her debut album ‘My Way’, which skyrocketed to number one on iTunes in both the UK and US, marking a monumental start to her recording career. The album features reimagined versions of beloved classics, including the musical theatre songs that defined her journey on BGT, alongside fresh takes on modern hits like Imagine Dragons’ “Believer” and The Script’s “Hall of Fame”.
Sydnie’s talent garnered the attention of musical legend Andrew Lloyd Webber, who invited her to perform the theme song for his new London production of Starlight Express, praising her vocal as “exquisite” and “emotionally charged.”
Last year, Sydnie performed for King Charles at the 2024 Royal Variety Performance, a prestigious event that further showcased her extraordinary talent on one of the world’s grandest stages.
