5th Mar 2022 7:30PM
Puccini - La Bohème
Acts 1 and 2: 55 mins
Acts 3 and 4: 50 mins
Reduced orchestration by Jonathan Lyness
It’s Christmas Eve and high above the streets of Paris a knock at the door begins the timeless love story of poet Rodolfo and his neighbour Mimi. Their fairytale romance feels like a Christmas miracle, but even the warmth of their love can’t defeat the winter chill – Mimi is desperately ill, and Rodolfo and his fellow bohemians can’t afford the help she needs.
From a student garret to the bustling streets of Montmartre, Puccini's masterpiece celebrates the power of love and friendship. Ensemble Cymru perform Puccini’s gloriously evocative score, with some of opera’s best loved arias conjuring Parisian cafes as well as the cold reality of the bohemians’ hand to mouth existence.

Legends of Irish music and song The Fureys, renowned for their hit songs ‘I Will Love You’, ‘When You Were Sweet 16’, ‘The Green Fields of France’, ‘The Old Man’, ‘Red Rose Café’, ‘From Clare to Here’, ‘Her Father Didn’t Like Me Anyway’, ‘Leaving Nancy’, ‘Steal Away’ return to Hafren on Saturday 12th March 2022.
The Fureys have been entertaining audiences worldwide for 44 years, audiences that have included former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, Former Irish President Mary McAleese and the late Pope John Paul while Tony Blair has publicly stated his favourite peace song of all time is the Fureys “Green Fields of France” and President Michael D Higgins attended their last concert in National Concert Hall.
The oldest of the brothers, Eddie Furey left home in 1966 and travelled to Scotland at the time of the great folk revival where he met and shared accommodation in Edinburgh with then unknown folk singers Billy Connolly, Gerry Rafferty and Alex Campbell, now all famous in their own right. In 1969 with his brother Finbar, he was the special guest for the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem throughout the USA and Canada. In 1971 he moved to mainland Europe where he toured for seven years, building up a huge following particularly in Germany. Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics has credited Eddie with teaching him his first chords on guitar when they met up in the North East of England while Dave was still a teenager.
The Fureys are responsible for some of the most stirring music ever to capture the public imagination. Their folk based music has received standing ovations in some of the biggest concert halls of the world and they credit their musical ability to their parents, Ted and Nora, who were well known musicians themselves. They encouraged their sons to play music from a very early age and there was live traditional music in their house almost nightly.
Their emotive songs stir many emotions….tears and laughter, sadness and joy.
A Fureys concert is always a night to remember!

The ELO Show
25th Mar 2022 8:00PM
The ELO Show - The World's greatest tribute to the music and genius of Jeff Lynne & ELO. Internationally acclaimed musician Brian Cummins brings this stunning show celebrating the music of Jeff Lynne and E.L.O. with a band of amazing musicians including a female string section this will be a fabulous night of hit after hit from such a vast back catalogue.
Jeff Lynne and ELO famously carried on the legacy of the Beatles where in his own words he wanted to 'Carry on from where I am the Walrus left off' and combined Classical music with motifs of the greats with Rock and Roll like no other musician before. The album 'Out of the Blue' released in 1977 catapulted them into Rock history and truly made them one of the biggest bands in the World at the time.
After many years of touring Jeff parted ways with the band to focus on producing some of the greatest musicians of the time namely, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Paul McCartney and The Beatles. Jeff resurrected the ELO legacy in 2014 with a new line-up and a mammoth stage show and has been touring the World Arenas and stadiums to this day.
The ELO SHOW has an amazing lightshow and 3D video screens very similar to Jeff's current backdrop. Expect songs like, 'Evil Woman', 'Don't bring me down', 'Telephone Line', 'Sweet Talkin Woman', 'Turn to stone', 'Wild west Hero', 'The Diary of Horace Wimp' and of course the legendary 'Mr. Blue Sky' plus many more with a surprise or two. Don't miss out on this fantastic night of nostalgia and classic tunes.

‘DARKLY HILARIOUS. GILBERT’S MOST SATISFYING SHOW FOR A DECADE. IT’S GOOD TO HAVE HIM BACK”
Following a seven-year break from stand-up (and a further enforced hiatus for obvious reasons), the multi-award-winning comedian is back on the road with his latest new live show – his first live tour since 2012. The comeback tour originally kicked off in 2019 and the Welsh wonder has already played to over 100 venues across the UK. The show has been met with widespread critical acclaim and every performance to date has sold out, including six nights at Cardiff Arena and ten nights at the EICC in Edinburgh. Due to overwhelming demand, extra dates continue to be added, and the tour will now run until June 2022. "BRITAIN’S CROSSEST COMIC ROARS BACK IN STYLE.
HILARIOUS TOUR-DE-FORCE” Telegraph A lot has happened to Rhod in the seven years since he last toured. Almost all of it s**t. And just when he thought he’d hit rock bottom, he met a bloke...called John. This show sees Rhod as funny as ever, but like never before. ‘The Book of John’ is raw, personal and brutally honest; no more lies, no more nonsense. This is Rhod, but different, the same, but not.
Come along and see for yourself. “VOLCANIC, HIGH-OCTANE HUMOUR. UPROARIOUSLY FUNNY” Guardian
As one of the UK’s leading stand-up comedy talents, Rhod has enjoyed many successful years as a star of television and radio. He has amassed nine series of his hugely popular ‘Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience’ and has hosted two series of ‘Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains’ for Comedy Central. He’s regularly hosted ‘Have I Got News for You?’ and has appeared countless times on ‘Qi’, ‘Would I Lie to You?’ and ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’.
